Tie plate towers with a nominal stress of 400, 750, 1250 and 1400 daN consist of four corner profiles with faces symmetrically arranged on the four vertices of a square, which give shape to the mast section.
These four pieces are joined together by welded tie plates.
The head, whose measurements and tolerances can be seen on the diagram enclosed, have a prismatic section measuring 6m in length and 320 mm on the side, which corresponds to the total space for mounting fittings, cross-bars, etc. after this section, the rest of the mast has a truncated pyramidal shape with a square base.

STRESSES IN TIE PLATE TOWERS
The following table shows the stress values for these towers, which correspond to the workload plus the overload, expressed in daN and applied on the top of the head.
The overload due to the wind must be simultaneously applied to these stresses.

On the table enclosed the foundations required are given depending on if the terrain is soft, normal or rocky, defined by an average compressibility coefficient or for a depth of two metres of 8, 12 and 16 Kg/cm3 respectively. These foundations have been proven against falling with the Sulzberger formula with a 1.5 factor of safety.
Verifying that 1,5 Mv ≤ M1 + M2
Where:
M1= 0,278 Kah3
M2= 0,4 Pa
For:
K= 8 Kg/cm3 (soft terrain)
K= 12 Kg/cm3 (normal terrain)
K= 16 Kg/cm3 (rocky terrain)
